Our 75th Anniversary Committee was looking for something to do for the community. The fact that Estes Park had no sign on any of the five entrances to the valley was brought up and it was decided that the Rotary Club of Estes Park should lead the way in correcting this problem. Every other mountain resort community in Colorado has a sign to welcome visitors. We believe (and most of our visitors concur) that Estes Park is in one of the most beautiful settings in the world and signs to welcome our visitors (and residents on their return home) would be something that would enhance how we feel about where we live. With Rotarian Roger Thorp, local award winning architect, contributing the design, the Town of Estes Park jumped in with full cooperation and financial support. The Rotary Club of Estes Park's members donated most of the funds for the first sign, and with lots of community support, the stone for the first sign has been set in place.
